Miniota Co op Opens New Store In Community Event
The Miniota Consumers Co op officially opened its new combined hardware and general store on May 14 with Max presiding. Board members announced include Cecil Clegg, Larry Walker, Russell Howard, J William Leland, Lloyd Evans, Frank Rowan, and Gordon Long as secretary. Vere Little of Federated Co operatives praised the group as the store began with 310 members and assets near 120 thousand dollars as of Jan 31 1964. The program included local musicians and a ribbon cutting by Archie Hill, with a community dinner and dance to follow.

Manitoba Pasture Renovation Policy for Weed Districts
The Ministry of Agriculture promotes a pasture improvement program for native and tame fields facing buckbrush and weed overgrowth. Eligible Weed Control Districts offer grants up to 80 dollars for initial treatment and 40 dollars for a second treatment, with approved chemicals and timing, including 32 ounces per acre for the first spray and 16 ounces for follow ups, to be completed by July 10 and preferably in June. Farmers must apply through their Weed Supervisor or Municipal Office and gain Weed Board approval.
