Closing exercises and banquet on May 14 at Miniota Collegiate featured Grade 12 students: Ann Armitage and David Spalding led in speeches. Inspector P H Funk greeted the school. Margaret Ann McCoubrey a long time district resident died in McCallum's Nursing Home Brandon at 86 in sleep Born 1878 in Scotland she came to Canada 1903 married John McCoubrey died 1942 Survived by two daughters Nora Lipscombe and Clara Nixon six grandchildren and three great grandchildren Funeral held May 21 at 2 pm McConnell Chapel Rev Bowins officiated burial Scotia Cemetery Pallbearers named.

Crandall Track and Field Meet Results Shoal Lake
Shoal Lake hosted the Birdtail River Division meet on May 19 with 27 students. Yvonne Eastcott led girls with wins in high jump and broad jump and third in 60 yard dash. Pat Amy swept events in junior girls with ball throw and 60 yard dash, second in shot put. Lois Preston and Lois Johnston earned multiple podiums in discus ball throw and shot put. Sharon Henderson led senior girls with high jump win and strong showings in shot put and ball throw. Edith Ariss placed second in discus. Wayne Smith finished third in shot put for boys primary. Total team score 46 points. All competitors advance to the Zone meet in Shoal Lake on May 29. Good Going Gang.
