The Miniota 4H Sewing Club will hold an Achievement night on Thursday May 31 at 8 p.m. in the Community Centre. A silver collection will be taken.

Baby Clinic Scheduled at Miniota United Church

The Baby Clinic will be held as usual on Thursday May 24 in the Miniota United Church. The Virden Health Unit coordinates the event and provides essential health services for infants and new parents.

Vernon Lockhart House Repair and Community Meeting

A repair gang works on the Vernon Lockhart house while Miss Margaret Lelarid spends the long weekend at home. The Annual Community meeting in the Hall, chaired by F Wiggins, notes $263 on hand and plans an estimate for piano repairs. Retiring members are Mrs W Lockhart Ken Mitchell Jim Kirton and Les Leland. New members include Mrs R G Mitchell Wilf Leland Joe Bonner Ken Page Alvin Johnson. Auditor Ken Page. The new committee will meet Monday evening to appoint officers. Red Cross reports 90 pieces of sewing and 13 pairs of socks, with $83.75 collected. Jas Kirton to be president and Mrs R Clegg secretary.

Municipal Council Holds Regular May 10 1962 Meeting

A general council meeting at the Municipal Office Miniota on May 10 1962 had all members present. The session approved April 24 minutes, discussed road and tax matters, approved a fuel oil tender at 18.40 per gallon, updated ward poundkeeper, approved grants, and set the next meeting for June 5 1962.

Mrs Chas Ellerington led a Miniota W I session at the Miniota Community Centre on May 11. Members answered Roll Call sharing books they enjoyed this year. Festival proceeds totaled 21.15 to buy a better piano. Mrs Chas Armitage reported Easter party success and kitchen remodel first coat of paint. A sing song, led by Mrs Long with Mrs Taylor at the piano, enlivened the meeting.
