Streptomycin and Tuberculosis in Medical Review
Editorial in the Canadian Medical Association Journal discusses streptomycin for tuberculosis. It notes tentative but hopeful results in pulmonary lesions, limited cures, relapses on withdrawal, and best use as an adjunct before surgery. The drug also shows promise for tuberculous sinuses and miliary TB, with concerns about duration and toxicity. The tone cites the American Medical Association survey and envisions a future where streptomycin may evolve into a broader treatment.
