Wheat Harrowing Advised To Fight Weeds In Wheat Fields
Dr Seager Wheeler of Rosthern Saskatchewan praises harrowing newly emerged wheat to curb pigweed wild buckwheat and other annual weeds. He warns against harrowing when wheat is four to six inches tall or in the first leaf stage, recommending timing on a dry day when seedlings show two or more stems. He suggests trying the method on a portion of a very weedy field to observe results.
