Farm Notes Ventilation and 4-H Event Dates

Wider Parish Plan Dead

The March meeting of Birtle Presbytery of the United Church of Canada rejected a plan to reform into five area ministries by 1971. Four area ministries operate partially while Hank Dykman’s Parkland Wider Parish proposal was declined amid concerns over timing, finances, and potential compulsion.

Peter N Gow Retires From Hospital Governing Board

Peter N Gow of Beulah retires after eighteen years on the Hamiota Hospital District No 7A governing board, where he served as chairman for eleven years. Gordon Long of Miniota succeeds him. Board members include J L Rankin and Elgin Routledge among others. Donations in 1969 total 2674 with groups contributing beds, drapes, equipment, and memorial gifts. Cardale Foresters and others supported the Cardiac Monitor Fund and Ice Machine Fund stands at 105. The board thanks donors for their generosity.

Boxed in theme at Bir tle Presbytery youth event

The Bir tle Presbytery March meeting featured a boxed in theme performed by the Presbytery Youth Council led by Rev. Clayton. Congregants walked through rooms symbolizing poverty prejudice and other limits then entered a celebration box encouraging dialogue across age groups. Overall the event drew praise for creativity and group unity despite a few decorative and musical shortfalls.

Park Residence News Weekend Visits and Celebrations

Weekend visitors included Mrs E Baldwin with her daughter Doris and guests A R Young and Elsie Petty from Winnipeg. A birthday dinner for the Baldwin family was held Saturday night. The Emer son couple celebrated their 55th anniversary with relatives. A visitor at Mrs Robertson was Mrs Ronald Clifford of Melita. Phyllis Allan and Kathy Nesbitt sang at a Come and Go Tea for Mrs Baldwin on March 9.
