Shelterbelt Tree Production Soars Across Prairie Farms
Prairie farms preorder 11 million shelterbelt seedlings, about three million more than the previous peak in 1929. Dr. William Cram of the PFRA says moisture aided a bumper crop at Indian Head and Saskatoon nurseries in 1963. By 1966 demand aims for 15 million trees yearly, with Indian Head supplying 10 million and Saskatoon 5 million.

Saskatchewan farmers eye 1964 fertilizer and chemical updates
Prairie farmers will use dicamba on wheat and oats to control buckwheat and smartweed with caution about leaf stage. Mixtures with 2,4-D or MCPA aid overall weed control, while shelterbelts, Avadex, and specific NPK blends guide soil and crop management. The report stresses moisture use, timing, and soil type in optimizing yields across regions.
