Trustees Meet at Minicta June Sixteen in Birdtail Region

Birdtail Regional of Man. Trustees gathered in Minicta with forty in attendance. John Rankin chaired the morning session, Mrs F. Rowan the afternoon. Delegates from Minota Municipal School District and urban associations spoke on school relief property tax, teacher mergers, and a Music and Speech Arts Festival for Birdtail. Inspector P Funk discussed the festival and Mr Dalton answered questions from the Department of Administration.

WI Meet Picnic at Roadside Park Reported

The Wisconsin chapter held a picnic meeting at Roadside Park on June 17. Provincial and district reports were given by Mrs. A M Hanlin and Mrs. Chris Biler matron and by Mrs. Webber of Two Creeks. Mrs. Gordon Selmynd of Arrow River attended and displayed the Arrow River berry in the Shirriff Horsey Competition and a child’s outfit made by Arrow River WI women. Next meeting set for September.

Miniota Council Meeting Minutes June 9 1961

The R M of Miniota council met June 9 1961 at the Municipal Hall with all members present. Reeve H S Hyndman presided. Minutes from April 25 1961 were adopted. Correspondence from Virden Agricultural Society Department of Municipal Affairs regarding short course in municipal equipment inspection and other items were received. May financial statement presented.

Mrs Hanlin led worship at the United church W A and W M S meeting on Thursday June 15. Speakers Mrs Geddes and Mrs Reynolls used Signals for the Sixties to warn of troubling trends in civilization. A $10 gift funded Diane Williams to Camp Brereton and another $10 aided Helen Lang to P C T Training Camp.

Mrs G Reynolds Miniota explained the new United Church Women’s Organization and answered members’ questions. Devotional duties were performed by Mrs E Ghier and Mrs W Davison.
