Farewell Party for Miss Spence and Don McLennan

The United Church Young Peoples Society held a Friday farewell hike to the valley with open arrival at the appointed spot. The event featured singing games and contests with presentations to the guests of honor. President L Reynold presented gifts and both honorees expressed thanks and regrets. A dainty lunch was served around a large fire before departure.

Dominion Day Holiday Sports Days Planned Across the Region

Friday next marks Dominion Day a public holiday with multiple sports events planned around town. Motor licenses will be available June 30 at half price encouraging residents to obtain one to avoid penalties.

Greceteria Fairsex Soap Meeting Attendance Lacked Interest

Miniata was not represented at the Brandon meeting to discuss matters of importance. The record notes no one appeared sufficiently interested to warrant attendance.

Miniota Masonic Lodge to Attend Divine Service

On Sunday next the Miniota Masonic Lodge will attend Divine Service in the United Church Miniota The brethren assemble at the Temple at 7000pm The service will be conducted by Rev J A Stepher BA.

Missionary Meeting of Holy Trinity Church Social Hour

The G A of Holy Trinity church held a regular meeting at Mrs. Coleman's home on Saturday afternoon with missionary work as the main topic. A lunch and social hour followed. The next meeting will be a picnic on Saturday July 9 at Mrs. Mackean's home.

Camp for boys at Shoal Lake July 5 to 12

A boys camp for ages 11 to 17 will run at Shoal Lake from July 5 to 12. District youths should submit names to Don McLennan promptly. Cost includes SL registration fee and $2.50 board per boy. The camp offers a healthy holiday in a fine setting under expert supervision with participation from other districts.

Sixth Sun day School Rally at Blairs Church

Sunday afternoon July 3 the sixth annual Sun day School Rally will be held at Blairs Church. Rev A J Radley will present the address and Mrs J M Elliote will speak on Isaac Watts Hymn writer. Watts hymns will be sung and a short business meeting will follow with reports by Wm Iverach the general secretary. Representatives from United Sunday schools in the Municipality will attend.

Brandon Fair Opens With Special Fares and Band Contest

Brandon Fair opens on Mone day with July 4th fares on the C P R of 3 35 round trip from Miniota. Tuesday train runs to 10 45 p m to let visitors enjoy the fair. A band concert for smaller towns is Friday of Fair week with ten entries already received and room for more.
