J Spalding visited Saltcoats Sask and Winnipeg and, on Wednesday last, met Brandon area gentlemen to discuss forming a regional group. A Brandon meeting will select delegates to plan the organization for districts west of Brandon with further details to follow.
Mr. and Mrs Chas Midwinter of Roland visit with Mr. and Mrs. John Spalding. Mr. and Mrs R J Smith of Winnipeg, staying with Dr. and Mrs R K Chalmers, have returned home. Mrs E S Hodnett and Mrs O Hanlin attend the Grand Lodge sessions of the Daughters of England in Regina this week.
The Bracken administration is returned to power with a larger standing after Thursday's election. In Hamiota Thomas Wolstenholme won by over 600, in Birtle J W Pratt led by about 70 over rivals, and in Virden R H Mooney topped with 300 surplus votes. Parties' standings are Liberal-Progressive Conservative Labor Independent. Elections at Pas and Ruperts Land set for July 14 with expected government victory.
The Minieta district held a large service at Minieta Park with clergy Ensign Loughton leading devotion. Rev H S Bowman gave the address while Reeve J R Lynch read the Roll of Honor and flowers were placed on the cross by Sunday school girls. The Salvation Army band from Brandon led singing and played The Lament with pipers E and W Carnegie. A night sacred concert followed attended by many, with thanks from the Miniota Canadian Legion branch for support.
