Public inquiry into farm machinery costs set for July 25
A 14 member Manitoba legislative committee, chaired by Harry P. Shewan, will hold a 10 a.m. hearing on July 25 in Room 254 of the Legislative Building Winnipeg. It will collect written briefs from farm machinery users and examine costs, legislation, exemption from federal taxes, and the Farm Implements Act.

New Drivers Licences Due On Saturday July 1
Manitoba's motor vehicle branch has mailed the last 12 000 of about 420 000 forms for drivers and chauffeurs licences. The current two year licences expire June 30 and the new licences for two years take effect July 1. Fees remain five dollars for drivers and seven fifty for chauffeurs. Applications must be properly filled out and signed and Sent with the fee before the licence is issued.

Birdtail River School Board Holds Regular Meeting in Shoal Lake
Birdtail River School Division No. 38 trustees met in Shoal Lake on Tuesday January 20 1967 at 800 pm with five trustees and Inspector Funk present. Manitoba to Observe July 3 as Federal Holiday
Provincial secretary Hon. Stewart E. McLean, Q.C., released a statement on July 3 as a public holiday in Manitoba citing a Federal Proclamation designating July 3, 1967, as a nationwide holiday. The Manitoba Interpretation Act makes such days holidays under provincial law, and citizens may observe July 3 per their employment contracts. Dominion Day July 1 remains a holiday, and Manitoba hopes citizens observe July 3 as part of Canada's Centennial Year.

Deaf Manitoba student Gerald Zimmer to study at Gallaudet College
Gerald Zimmer, 19, from Shellmouth, becomes the first deaf graduate of the Manitoba School for the Deaf since 1965 to gain admission to Gallaudet College in Washington DC, the world’s only college for the deaf. He served as student council president this past year and aims to teach the deaf, a realistic goal his principal says.

Grade XI Physics marks adjusted
The standards sub committee of the High School Examination Board met to address complaints about the Grade XI Physics paper. A survey showed some students faced difficulty on several questions and received 15 to 20 marks less than normal, while others had little difficulty. Schools will apply a scaling formula to adjust marks and average with term marks to determine final standings.

Betty Andrushuk Shower Honors June Bride
Miss Betty Ann Andrushuk, a June bride, was honored at a miscellaneous shower Saturday afternoon June 17 in the Miniota Community Centre. Corsages were given to the honoree and to her shuk and Mrs Clarence Wotton from Birtle Manitoba. They were escorted to their chairs by Mrs Allan Armitage. The social committee of the W4s organized the shower and refreshments. Community gifts included a bedspread blanket sheets and pillow cases ironing board and cover and a teflon saucepan.
