Fewer Manitoba teachers leaving in 1968 survey shows improvement
Manitoba's 1968 teacher turnover appears lighter than in prior years with 1,263 of 8,134 respondents not returning next September. The resignation rate stands at 23.1 percent, down from 26.3 and 27.1 percent, and only 193 plan to teach outside the province. The Manitoba Teachers' Society notes improved retention due to better salaries and conditions, but warns against complacency as a formal survey continues.
