New Type Lighting For Highway Safety In Manitoba
Manitoba advances highway safety with a new lighting system at the Highways 59 and 44 interchange east of Lockport. Four 1000 watt lamps on 100 foot poles will illuminate the area, using 37 poles instead of 160 with current setups, reducing collision hazards. Enhancements include larger clearer signs, standardized signals, reflectorized signs, freeway style overhead signs, standardized traffic lights, asphalt seal coats, wider shoulders, and limited access highways to lower inter section risks.

Continuous cropping may boost certain weeds, says Ag Rep
Wendell Wight reports from the Manitoba Faculty of Agriculture that continuous cropping could raise perennials like Canada thistle and sow thistle, plus climbers such as wild buckwheat and field bindweed. Annual grasses like green foxtail and charnel may rise as barnyard grass and wild oats fall, with weed control and rotation of herbicides urged to maximize yield and prevent disease and insect buildup.
