Where the Municipal Hall Should be Built

An amendment to the last council motion to place the municipal hall on gaol lots goes to the next session. The board of trade and building committee met and advocated tennis court lots or the jets near G Cornish's residence. At a well attended convention on June 6 Mr Ferguson MP was unanimously chosen as the riding candidate for the coming election. Supporters say he has represented the riding worthily and will win by a large majority. Voters praise his usefulness and painstaking service and deem defeating him ingratitude.

Miniota Dragoons Depart for Camp in Militia Style

Thirteen Miniota Troop of the 12th Manitoba Dragoons left for camp at Sewell forming a striking line on the market square under Lieut JL Evans. They entrained at Virden Tuesday morning with Lieut Evang and Sergt Martin among the listed personnel.

Sons of England Picnic at the River

The Sons of England held their annual picnic at Happyland with about 12 Lodge Colonial members from Rivers attending by morning train. A 2:50 departure faced heat and a storm, then a late evening meeting, supper by Mr. Leam, and about 40 members present. The Rivers brethren returned Saturday morning.

Town hald holiday begins Wednesday June 29

The weekly half holiday petitioned for in town will start on Wednesday next June 29 with stores closing at one o clock to allow employees and employers to attend the English Church picnic at Happyland. Citizens are urged to mark Wednesdays in July and August in red to avoid surprise closings and wetting. Sergeant Martin inspected through his telescope and found two shirts. Mr and Mrs C P R Palmer visit with H S Hunter. Joe Huden left Monday morning for Lethbridge Alta.
