Nurse M Cunningham returns from Flin Flon for an extended visit with her parents Mr and Mrs L Powell and their son plan a three week visit there. Mr and Mrs Ro Samra Regina spent the weekend with Dr and Mrs R Ro Chalmers. Mrs F L Spencer left on Saturday.
The Holy Trinity A. Y. F. F. A. held a farewell in the crypt on Friday May 23 for the Rev N Newton after his service and departure from the parish. Parishioners presented him with a pen and pencil set and a monetary gift as parting honors. Mrs A Leam also left town to reside in Brandon and was honored by the Holy Trinity W. A. with a purse. The community plans a war memorial service with Lt Governor R F McWilliams as guest speaker.
The annual memorial service will be held in Miniota on Sunday June 21 at 7 30 p m. Local citizens are invited to attend this community observance and honor those remembered in the program.
The Women's Missionary societies of Birtle Presbyterial met at Miniota United Church on Thursday with 65 delegates registering. Mrs. J. Bell of Angusville presided as morning sessions offered departmental reports and new resolutions spurred discussion. Guest speakers Mrs. Arnct of Winnipeg and Mrs. Rutherford of Hamiota gave inspiring addresses amid musical numbers and memorial and communion services. Elected officers were President Mrs. J. W. Bell Angusville Vice President Mrs. A. L. Decker Decker Recording Secretary Mrs. McNeill Russell Treasurer Mrs. E. Brown Minnedosa.
A stampede Hitler club draw on May 15 lists prize amounts 3.75 for W. J. Strachan and A. Richardson with multiple entries 2.25 for Mrs. W. Middleton and Mrs. A. Roger and 1.50 for Mrs. J. Foster and Mrs. F E Bolton. Other entries include Miss K Lynch W J Grant and many more with a 50 cent tier for A. Rowan and J. H. Perry.

William James Gordon Beveridge born May 23 at Brandon hospital to Set. and Mrs. W. H. Beveridge. Brian Crandall born May 24 at Virden hospital to Mr. and Mrs. W. Crandall. a son born May 29 at Belleville hospital Ontario to LAC and Mrs. G Dodds. Thomas Edward Johnston born May 28 at Melita to Mr. and Mrs. E Johnston of Melita.
Outdoor drama schedule lists Valley of the Sun with Lucile Ball and James Craig performing June 4 5 6 matinee 2.50 and Tuttles of Tahiti with Charles Laughton Jon Hall Peggy Drake showing June 9 10 at 8 p.m. Prices: adults 30 cents children 20 cents. The joyous family story runs Thursday and Friday with a second Saturday show 8 10 p.m. All children must pay admission.
Allan Sutherland visits Winnipeg this week while LAC J Clark and LAC C Clark accompany R C A F Sas katoon on furlough. Virden hosts Gnr H Phillips on leave. New Brunswick based personnel at home for weekend. District thanks sent for Red Cross donations and Rubber Salvage appeal. 4300 lbs collected and Jno Reid delivered to Brandon free of charge.
