Manitoba Plans Fall Yellow Hunting Garb Tests

Hon. C. H. Witney announced Manitoba will conduct government sponsored tests this fall to evaluate yellow twill clothing for deer hunters. The game branch will gather fabric samples, recruit testers, and collect feedback to determine visibility, durability, and suitability under local conditions.

Miss Myrna Barrett Wins Gold Medal at Nursing Graduation

Miss Myrna Barrett earned the gold medal for proficiency and the John R Brodie Scholarship for highest third year standing as eighteen Brandon General Hospital School of Nursing graduates were presented. Mr and Mrs W A Barrett attended the ceremony at St Pauls United Church Brandon along with Miss Barretts grandmother Mrs P MacPherson of Victoria BC and others visiting from Middleton N S and Miniota.

Local Notes Highlight Portage la Prairie Visitors and School Sports

Local residents visited Portage la Prairie over the holiday weekend while Ian Reeve returned to Minniota staff after working at Ratend. Miniota High School students excelled at the Hamiota meet with multiple podium finishes in sprints, jumps, and relays.

Mothers and Daughters Banquet Held at Miniota

The annual Mothers and Daughters Banquet of the C G I T was held at Miniota United church on Wednesday eve ning. Elinor Armitage presided at the head table and greetings were offered by Rev C A Geddes and Rev L Gedge. Three graduates Helen Long Elinor Armitage and Ann Craig received certificates and gifts.

Beulah District Happenings Highlights Weekend Visits and Sports

Beulah residents hosted and visited over the weekend with many trips to Regina Regina and Brandon noted. Local teams played Riverside Rivers and Oak River with Beulah teams losing both games. The district reports census classes and a Birdtail River School Division Ball Tournament at Kenton where Crandall girls won the cup and gate receipts honor.

District Assembly to Be Held in Vancouver

Arrow River congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses announces attendance at the United Worshippers District Assembly in Vancouver British Columbia July 4 to 9 at Empire Stadium. About 25 000 delegates from Manitoba Saskatchewan Alberta British Columbia Alaska Oregon Idaho Washington and Montana will join.

May WI Meeting Reports Prizes and District Board Election

The May WI meeting had 15 members present with Mrs. Robus giving the Thought for the Day. Diane Eastcott won first prize in Safety First for grades 1 to 4, Brian White second, and Diane earned Honourable Mention at the District Convention.

W I Meet Discusses June Events and Remembrance Plans

Members met at Mrs. Jim Carnegie’s home with Mrs. R G Mitchell presiding. They reviewed plans for Sports Day on June 10 and meals, entered Elliott’s name in the Book of Remembrance, and sent $5 to the Retarded Children's Fund. Discussions covered convention reports, safety driving, fairs, and selling plans. The next meeting is June 6 with a tour of the Indian School at Birtle and a picnic supper at Birtle Dam.

Arrow River 4-H Sewing Club Achievement Night

Arrow River 4 H Sewing Club held its annual Achievement Night on a Friday evening in May. President Vickie Leland led the event with reports from Joan Leland and Wilda Lockhart on finances and secretary duties. Members earned purple and red ribbons for projects including crochet, book work, placemats, and sewing models, with selections advancing to district rally and home economist offices in Virden.
