At the McConnell Fat Stock Sale on Saturday June 26 Larry Paterson's Hereford steer won Grand Champion and sold to Hamiota Co op for 43 cents per pound. Barry Clark's steer was Reserve Champion at 38.25 cents and many buyers from Oak River to Revelstoke purchased stock. the event also presented Royal Bank and Cochrane trophies, with judging by Cliff Kennedy and Arnold Lawson assisting.

Children’s Aid Annual Meeting Held in Brandon
The Brandon Brandon University dining room hosted the Children’s Aid Society annual meeting drawing 300 participants from Southern Manitoba. Officers reelected included President Robert Rae and Treasurer A Cristall, with 25 Brandon and 25 rural citizens elected to the board. The treasurer cited aid to 3200+ children, 631 families, and 115 adoptions, plus 267 unmarried mothers served. An additional girls group unit was announced for Brandon.

Blood donors clinic underwhelmed expectations at Min iota
Red Cross appeal for blood at the Miniota clinic held June 8 drew 115 donors, with 11 unable to donate. Net 104 donations fell short of the 200 goal. Outside-area response was stronger, with 45 from Miniota and other donors from Crandall, Hamiota, Reeder, Isabella, Beulah, Arrow River, Virden, Oak River. Volunteers from Crandall and Miniota staffed the event along with registrars and helpers from multiple communities.

Miniota Boy Scouts close season with pioneer camp
Miniota Troop of Boy Scouts ended the 1970 71 season with a pioneer camp on June 11 18. Open House Sunday evening showcased the boys handiwork log cabin tables and benches and earned a Troop Specialty Badge. Scouts Doug Armitage Bill McKenzie Mark Martin Ted Oliver and John Wythe received silver chains bronze campcraft and other badges. Barry Clark and Randy Pierce earned gold campcraft gold exploring and scoutcraft and became the first Miniota Scouts to win the Pathfinder Award the highest in the present system.
