Shipboard safety gains with new fireproof plastic fabric
In a Southern England factory a light strong plastic fabric that resists burning water heat and solvents is mass produced for shipboard use. It is already fitted in ships and aircraft carriers and will be used in cabins panels doors and partitions aboard vessels including the Lady Nelson and Lady Rodney as they serve with war brides and children bound for Canada. Since 1942 the two ships have traveled nearly 500000 miles carrying troops and returned 14900 wounded or sick to Canada.
