Canada urges growers to seed pure stock and prepare exhibits for the 1982 World Grain Show and Conference in Regina. The drive offers up to $200,000 in prize offsets and invites municipalities to plan now to have exhibits on next year’s show benches.
A large audience gathered at the Orange Hall Hamiota on Wednesday night under the Wheat Pool banner. J Bredt vice president of the Manitoba Wheat Pool and Central Selling Agency spoke on pooling, market access and European duties while urging unified action to secure grain sales and a future barley market in Eastern Canada. He noted heavy past production, reduced foreign purchasing power and the need for a single selling point to protect farmers profits. The meeting ended with thanks and a vote of confidence.
