Miniota Council Holds January 10 1978 Meeting

Miniota municipal council met January 10 1978 at the municipal office with Reeve V N Lockhart presiding. Motions adopted: minutes from December 13 1977 and special meetings December 6 and December 29 1977. Delegates Ted Woychuk of Haggard Equipment and A Anderson and Gusdal of Powell Equipment met with council.

Hamiota hosts sixth annual minor hockey tournament

The Hamiota Minor Hockey Association staged a three day event on January 13 to 15 to kick off Minor Hockey Week. Decker, Miniota, Rivers, Shoal Lake, Virden and Oak River teams competed with Hamiota winning several age groups and awards including the Pic Caldwell Memorial Trophy for the 8 and under division. The opening ceremony featured remarks from local officials and a plaque presentation for Grandma Caldwell.
