Bertha Mabel Reid died December 23 at Assiniboine Hospital Brandon Manitoba born March 4 1877 Georgetown Ontario. She married William Reid of Listowel Ontario in 1902 predeceased 1918 and they homesteaded Beaver district Oakner. Funeral December 27 at Hamiota United Church with interment in Hamiota Cemetery. Survived by son Les Oakner daughters Helen Kenton and Mabel Lukianchuk six grandchildren eight great grandchildren. two sons and one daughter predeceased.

Mr Herald Hall is a patient in Hamiota Hospital. A speedy get well wish from all. Mr and Mrs J Howe Gladstone and Mr and Mrs Eric Short and family Oak Lake spent New Year with Mr and Mrs J Morrison. Mrs H S Hyndman returned from Winnipeg where she visited her mother Mrs Thring. The WI Jamboree in the remodelled Community Rink awaiting room was successful with receipts 156.30. The turkey won by Wilma Hankin and the clock guess by Mrs J T Walker. Ladies Curling Club reorganized with five rinks playing two afternoons weekly. Holiday visitors at Mr and Mrs C R Lee were Mr and Mrs Gerald Lee and family and Mr and Mrs M Haverstick and family Winnipeg. Birthday greetings to Mrs Groves 86 on January 8.
