W. M. S. Meeting At Mrs. Vradenburgh Home

The W. M. S. gathered at Mrs. J. . Vradenburgh’s home on Thursday afternoon for the twelfth meeting of the year with about ten attendees. A Christmas program followed and Mrs. Chalmers presented a descriptive reading about W. M. S. hospital work in the three prairie provinces. Tea and a light lunch were served by the hostess after the meeting.

Mrs. Tom Sidey died in Regina fifteen years ago. A daughter born to Mr and Mrs W Hurlin. Earl Warren of Isabella served as a delegate to the Boys Parliament in Winnipeg. The rural council imposed a dog tax of one dollar per year per dog, two dollars for each additional dog.

Joe Henderson Sentenced for Defrauding Municipalities

Joe Henderson was sentenced in Minnedosa police court on December 22 by Magistrate J Fleming to one year in jail for conspiring to defraud municipalities and six months for false pretences. He planned to alter gopher pelts to look like young wolves to claim a $2 bounty per pelt, leaving the pelts in a can. The municipality secretary involved reportedly sniffed out the ruse, and no bounty was paid. Henderson had prior success in other towns, including Rapid City.
