A Royal Commission is urged to probe the Home Bank failure while the public calls for swift trials of offenders. The Oak River event highlighted curling prizes with A Kerr’s rink winning three medals and W Prentiss’ rink earning a prize in the same program. The Saturday ladies rink also performed.
Yon are asked to remember the dance to be held in the Miniota hall on February 29th by the Young Girls. The program includes Schottische Fox Trot Sapper Waltz and Quadrille with a lively sequence of waltzes and dances.
Local news items report Min iota Manitoba Teachers Federation meeting at Beulah on March 1 at 2 pm. Obituaries note the deaths of Mrs Hyndman and Mrs Douglas from cancer south of Crandall. A Union Ladies Aid event at Spaldings featured contests, music, and lunch. A Mothers and Daughters banquet at the Union Church celebrated motherhood and religious education with a large display of attire and a service led by Mrs Moffat, Ina Cornish, and others. The funeral for a noted community member was held last Sunday with attendees from J W and J N Warren and Robert McDonald.
Death ends long life of Mrs. Wm Armson at her home in Borkton Saskatchewan. She came to Manitoba with parents from Ontario in 1877 and settled at High Bluff. She married Mr. Armson in 1879 and later farmed in Hamiota district before returning to Portage la Prairie and moving onward.
