The Miniota 4-H Calf Club sponsors a Co-Op Feed meeting at the Miniota Community Centre. Films and slides will be shown. Clarence Bailey, Cooperative Feeds Fieldman, will be the speaker.
Linda O Conner expresses gratitude to supporters after winning the carnival queen title on Friday night. She thanks everyone who voted and congratulates fellow participants in the local event.
Community notices cover visits and moves, church meetings and World Day of Prayer services, high school drama plans, curling event prizes, and local obituaries. Includes Miniota W M S bake sale details, C.G.L.T. activities, and tributes to Matthew Wilson of Moose Jaw with family ties to Miniota.
In memory of Herbert A. Armitage who died February 22, 1957, from his wife Catherine and family. A Reeder Hockey team mending bee gathered at Mrs J Joseph’s home. At Two Creeks W J Mossop R McCaw Mrs Mossop and Mrs McCaw won third in the First Event and forty pounds of pike fillets in an eight ender. At Armitage groceries were won as fourth prize in the Third Event. Wynona Ladies Group met at Mrs J Stamford with nine present. Roll Call was a slogan. Mrs F Bowles won the contest and Mrs Cook the mystery box. Sunshine convenor named Mrs C Goodwin. Lunch served by Mrs Peel Mrs G Peel and Mrs Goodwin. Next meeting at Mrs W Leary’s home.
A Canadian Agriculture Department release confirms Parkland barley as a malting variety. Tests over six years show Parkland superior to O A C 21 and at least equal to Montcalm, with higher yields and better lodging resistance in both Western and Eastern Canada. Limited 1957 crop stock may delay test malting, but 1958 is expected to have ample supply for malting purposes.
Notice states the first Baby Chicks and Turkeys Poults at Kinney Hatcheries Virden will appear March 12 and thereafter twice weekly. The farm will produce thousands of top quality chicks in pure and cross breeds and invites early order premium inquiries.
The Arrow River School seeks a caretaker starting March 1 1958 with a salary of 100 dollars per month. Applications must be submitted to the undersigned by February.
