Education minister Hon. George Johnson states that voting for a single district division preserves local voice in education. He notes the March 10 referendum on single district divisions is discussed at local meetings, arguing frontier conditions necessitated local control over financing, administration, hiring, and building.
Holy Trinity held its annual meeting on January 26 in the church basement with 14 present. Rev. Pilling presided and the group decided renovations to the basement would start by June 15 at the latest, with parish members informed of the deadline.
The Royal Bank of Canada names E. H. Preston as Mintota branch manager replacing D. C. W. Johnson, who moves to Shoal Lake. Johnson served since 1963 in Mintota and previously in Lac Bonnet, St. James and Winnipeg. Church matters include rector’s report, Vestry elections, and remarks on education reform proposing a single district division to oversee elementary and secondary schooling with broader provincial support.
Birdtail River School Division No. 38 holds meetings at Shoal Lake and Hamiota on January 23 26 1967. Trustees Rankin Stimpson Fulton Clark Randell Selby and Inspector Funk discuss minutes salaries secretary treasurer appointment and practice teaching. A ward boundary plan enlarges board to 11 trustees with new district mapping and by law.
