The Birdtail River School Division No 38 board met at Shoal Lake on January 29 1970 at 4:00 p.m. Trustees Fulton Waddell Rapley Lewycky Butcher Randell Hyndman Falloon Armitage and Fouillard attended. They adopted January 15 1970 minutes and received filed correspondence from J Eastake North Western Market quette Festival Department of Municipal Affairs and others. They approved progress payment No 4 for the Birtle Collegiate addition and terminated the van contract of P Dushnicky. By law 15/69 to issue 750 000 in debentures for Hamio ta St Lazare additions was read second time and finally passed. They approved progress payment No 6 for St Lazare addition and set retroactive route payments for Pomehichuk and Stewart. Adjourned to February 2 1970 at 2:00 p.m.

In Tuesday’s School Corner a girl from grades seven eight and nine were nominated for Carnival Queen Irene Horner Pauline Andrushuk and Shirley Armitage. The next day students voted to pick a Junior High Show representative with Pauline Andrushuk running for 1970 Carnival Queen.
Park Residence residents hosted a social gathering in Mrs Delbridge's suite for Mrs Mansell's birthday. Mr and Mrs Paddock and two children of Oak River joined Mrs Robertson. Mrs Fred Morris returned from Har dings with relatives. Jean Morrice of Winnipeg visited her mother Mrs J Morrice and Mrs Collie family. Mrs Harper of Minnedosa visited her grandmother Mrs Collie. Mr and Mrs Good of Honey B C called on Mrs Collie.
