Manitoba Farmers Debate Pelleted Versus Liquid Fertilizer Costs
Manitoba farmers and researchers from the University of Manitoba and Brandon Experimental Farm compare pelleted fertilizer with liquid 10 20 10 applied with seed. Trials on wheat and barley show liquid 10 20 10 fails to pay given costs, with a Morden district Selkirk wheat test yielding 1.99 bushels per acre for 1.9 gallons per acre and a minus 25 cent return per acre at higher rates. Also noted are plans by Ham Iota resident Mr. Hubert Pollock to attend a Watchtower convention in Neepawa January 22-24 focusing on religious interfaith and Bible instruction. The event will feature a Sunday address by J F McPherson.

Liquid 10-20-10 costs higher per nutrient unit, and 10-30-10 pellets cost $105 per ton. Foliar leaf application of 10-20-10 yielded no significant gains.
