Local notes discuss world wheat surplus and low prices. Suggestions include dumping stock into the Ink ss or increasing bread consumption by three extra slices per meal, with a humorous aside about mine shoes per day.
The Community Rink Committee hosted a Friday night event at Miniota School with straight whist and dance. Winners included Ladies first Mrs J Spading and Consolation Miss A Cornish, Gentlemen first Ted Armstrong and Consolation Ted Bally. W J Christmas cake draw tickets 58 114 119 held by Clare Ramsay Bill Strachan Reg Bryant.
Police hunted two men accused of stealing two guns and tools from Jack Taylor and a stolen robe from Etleringtons car on Main Street. John and Percy Jones were questioned at Elkhorn, where the missing items were found in a truck. Percy released as unlikely involved.
Courtesy Cunard Steamship Co and Anglican Young Peoples Association presented four reels titled The Magic Adventure of the Caribbean Sea at the Masonic Temple. The program featured films of Nassau Cuba Panama Jamaica Haiti Santo Domingo and Porto Rico plus a Rev W P Mason solo and a shadowgraph pantomime. A lunch and dance followed and the next association meeting is set for January 7.
