The Birdtail River School Division No 38 board met at Crandall on December 9 1976 at 8 00 p.m. with trustees Butcher Murray Rapley Choptuik Bunn Shier Lewycky Tolton Kreager and Waddell present. Actions include minutes approval, financial items, personnel leaves and resignations, new tenders for heating oil and gasoline, and an adjournment to a special meeting December 11 1976 at 9:00 a.m. Additional items cover transportation reimbursement for Mabel Holland, use of Shoal Lake Elementary auditorium as evac center, and an option agreement with R M Minsota. The meeting ended at 11 00 p.m.

Manitoba Crop Insurance Changes Outlined
Manitoba Agriculture Minister Sam Askiw outlined minor changes to crop insurance for the next year. Premiums and coverages largely stay the same though sunflowers, grain corn, and buckwheat will see lower rates and higher coverage, while risk areas 9 14 15 and 16 see small coverage decreases and premium upticks. Hail losses in August prompted slight increases in hail insurance across several risk areas and minor shifts in the all risk contract rates with federal and provincial adjustments. No drastic cuts or sharp premium hikes are expected, and no major hardship on insured farmers is anticipated.
