Congratulations to Mrs. Minna Pfeiffer on her 85th birthday December 2 at her daughter’s home, Mrs. O. Blaich. Mrs. Pfeiffer’s first trip to Canada from Germany last June shows her enduring spirit in adapting to a new country and language.

CGIT Meeting Views Early Bible Developments Film
A CGIT session screened a film on early forms of the Scriptures and the Bible. Betty Johnson and Cathy Hanlin led worship. Plans were made for the annual enrollment on December 17 and rehearsal began for the December 14 Vesper Service.

Baby Band Christmas Party at United Church
The United Church Baby Band held its Christmas party in the church classroom on December 2 with Mrs. K. Armitage presiding. Children dropped gift boxes into a large stocking and raised 9.90. Mrs. A. M Watts told a Christmas story with a flannel graph.

Obituary Mrs L S Hodnett passes in Minnesota
Sudden death of Mrs Hodnett on December 3 saddened the community. Born Rita Marie Desloges in Hull Quebec on September 15 1908 she lived in Kapus kasing Ontario Winnipeg and Minnesota. Funeral held at Minnesota United Church with burial at the local cemetery. Surviving are her husband two daughters her mother two brothers and two sisters. Many joined from distant places for the service.

Mission Band Meet With Christmas Story and Charity
The Mission Band held its Christmas meeting on Friday with the St. Luke Christmas story and carols. Sharon Bryant led a Bible verse lesson and Mrs. Denham led prayers for two Winnipeg mission workers and Betty and Bob Carlson in Japan. A large clothing and toy donation for far north Indians was presented. Linda Goodwin and Albert Sparks assisted. Ross Rowan’s group won the most points in a new team game.
