Mrs J Gammack Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs J Gammack aged 78 died after a lengthy illness November 9 1964 at the local hospital. Born in Scotland she came to Canada in 1912 living in Hamiota district most of her life. Survived by husband three daughters six sons twelve grandchildren two brothers in USA three brothers and three sisters in Scotland. Keelson predeceased her in 1944. Funeral from Hamiota United Church McConnells Funeral Home in charge Interment in Hamiota Cemetery.

General Meeting of the U C W Gathers Members
The General meeting in the church school rooms Tuesday evening Nov 10, with Mrs. A. Armitage presiding. Sixteen members attended. Edna Reynolds presented a program on F A C and the Freedom from Hunger Campaign. A combined Christmas meeting is planned for Dec 17, and the annual meeting will be Jan 5, 1965. Tea hosts were Mrs. E. Peterson, Mrs. A McKean and Mrs. N. Leland.

Arrow River 4H Club Holds November Meeting
The Ar row River B Thriftys 4Hers held their third meeting at Arrow River School on November 12. The pledge and roll call opened the session, followed by the secretary and treasurer reports. A donation of about 25 dollars from the old Calf club was noted. Members will make posters for the UCW Bazaar on November 27 at Arrow River Church basement 8 p.m. and explore The Food Fun Fair. Uniform discussions continued and Roberta Lelond adjourned the meeting.

Miniota Collegiate Halloween Party and Sock Hop
The Miniota Collegiate held an October 30 Halloween party with prizes for best costumes. Prizes went to Arlene Armitage and Sharon Leland for Ladies, Don Armitage and Evelyn Godwin with Kathie Rollo for Men and Comedy categories. Dancing, games and lunch followed. A November 13 sock hop featured records and lunch.

Manitoba Sire Indexing Center Opens For Winter Trial
Twenty six Manitoba purebred beef breeders back the first test at the new sire indexing center near Douglas. A 114 young bulls enter a 140 day trial starting December 8 after a 28 day adjustment. Weighing on December 8 and 9 precedes the test cycle with a uniform ration for optimum gain.

Manitoba beef cattle center to host performance test opening
The Manitoba Beef Cattle Performance Association will open a new center in early December with eight pens and automatic waterers to study weight gain in Herefords Aberdeen Angus Shorthorns and Charolais. Bulls will be weighed every 28 days and rated by rate of gain with private treaty sales possible after the first test period and annual spring auctions thereafter. The center is funded by McCabe Grain Company in cooperation with the association and opened by Minister George Hutton.

November W. I. meeting held in Crandall church parlours
The Crandall Women’s Institute met on Wednesday afternoon November 25 with 13 members present. Treasuries show 224.81 in the W I Fund, 6538.04 in the Community Fund, and 192 for the United Appeal. Plans were made for a Christmas party on December 4 at 8 p.m. at the school auditorium. A layette and used baby clothes were sent to the Children’s Aid in Brandon. The annual meeting is set for January 6 at 7 30 p.m. Donations of Canada Packer Labels are invited at M E Cadwallader’s store by December 15. Mrs. Johnson read the first of two addresses by Mrs Black on Home and Country. Mrs Kolac demonstrated fancy gift wrapping. Lunch was served.
