Junior Olympics Draws Half Million in Canada

More than 500,000 Canadian youths aged nine to nineteen registered this year in the four year old Junior Olympics program. Sponsored by The Royal Bank of Canada and designed by the Canadian Olympic Association, the effort promotes Olympic disciplines with incentive awards and participation certificates to support national, provincial, regional, and community level events. Harold Wright, COA president, calls the response heartening and notes continued sponsorship through 1977 as participation is expected to rise. Rowland Frazee of the Royal Bank says the milestone boosts Canada’s amateur talent pool and emphasizes healthful activity over idle leisure.
