Funeral services for Mrs. Douglas Beattie of Birtle and later Binscarth were held August 14 at Miniota United Church. She was 67, born Mab el Anne Lindsay in 1898, and survived by her husband Douglas Beattie, two sons Clayton and Blair, two stepsons Walter and Morris, a step daughter Roy Brown, and other relatives.
Mr and Mrs Harold Birrell and family along with Mrs Edith Rutledge of Pinkerton Ontario and Mr Hill visited at the O Hamberg and W Pierce homes. F Gordon and family of Lucky Lake Sask called on J B Morgan. John Bickford is on holidays. Eileen Bulmer spent a week in Brandon with her mother. Barry Tomiski of Birtle visited his grandparents the Hambergs. Ken Green and family of Yukon visited the Green home. W E Forster and son Ev of The Pas joined H E Forster for a Sunday gathering. F MacDonald and family of Calgary visited Beulah. Ed Cadwallader returned home after a Misericordia Hospital Winnipeg operation.
Crandall residents hosted and visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hyndman and Mr. and Mrs. Do R Lee among those mentioned. Ken Lee and Pat Lee vacationing with grandparents in Winnipeg. Wm Ringland and daughter Sandy visited Ninette residents at John Hazelwood's. Bonnie Lyng of Calgary returns home to visit C J Lyng parents for two weeks. M Johnston suffered a broken nose at the Miniota fastball tournament last week. Cran dall girls fastball team wins Miniota tournament. Mrs A E Irvine injured her cheek falling last Thursday and is in Hamiota Hospital for treatment.
Isabella area residents share visits across Manitoba and beyond. Families visit in Flin Flon, Winnipeg, Brandon, Minnedosa, and Rivers. many attend weddings and community events. The report notes arrivals, departures, and social gatherings along with the first 1965 grain delivery to Arrow River and early harvest activity.
The Birdtail River School Division No. 38 met at Shoal Lake on August 13 1965 with trustees Stimson Selby Fulton Reynolds Rapley Randell Rankin present. Motions adopted minutes August 5 1965 correspondence received and filed appoint vice principals at Birtle Strathclair and Hamiota Collegiates adjourn for August 24 1965 at 8 pm and tenders for van routes discussed.
Mr and Mrs Kirby Flosstr and Kenora Ont Ellen Mahon visited with her sister Mrs Jim Clegg. Mr and Mrs Jim Clegg returned to Kenora to attend a wedding reception for the couple recently married. The community mourns Jack Craig of Blaine Washington. Sympathy extended to friends and relatives. Visitors at Nora and Jack O Callaghan include Mr and Mrs Bill Carnegie and family The Pas and Miss Margaret O Callaghan Brandon. A very pleasant afternoon.
