Direct Home Improvers Need Manitoba Licence

Manitoba Consumers' Bureau warns householders to demand seeing the provincial direct seller licence before any door to door home improvement offer. Unlicensed crews, including a Saskatchewan trio, have operated in Virden and Oakville, overcharging a Manitoba resident for exterior painting. Infectious Hepatitis Cases Continue High in Manitoba

Manitoba health data show infectious hepatitis and streptococcal throat infections remain well above 1976 levels. July reported 65 hepatitis cases, 15 in Norman region. total 1977 hepatitis 549. Strep throat doubled 1976 levels with 1,985 cases year to date, Interlake under investigation for clusters. Measles and rubella declined, gonorrhea remains most common notifiable disease with 2,729 cases year to date. Nine rabid animals all skunks reported in July across multiple rural municipalities.

Midwest Recreation District Summer Beautification Project

Hamiota hosts an eight week summer program with Wes Coulson and Shauna McKin non leading crews painting facilities across the district. Diana Doran Julie Oliver organize swimming lessons at Hoopers Lake while kids enjoy games crafts and songs plus events like a camp-out bicycle rodeo and weiner roast. Miniota programs report strong participation and nutrition education by Michelle Bicknell. Kenton and Oak River run a small summer sports effort with mixed turnout.
