Dave Smith, Provincial Extension Entomologist, urges thorough grain bin cleanup to prevent infestations next winter. Repair and weatherproof bins, clean thoroughly, and burn or bury sweepings to remove breeding grounds for insects.
The Sanatorium Board of Manitoba and the University of Manitoba launch a lung function survey across Ham ilota and Miniota Municipalities. Residents 16 and older answer a respiratory questionnaire and take a breathing test at multiple centres August 3 to 11 to detect chronic obstructive lung disease and provide physicians with history and incidence data. A separate note gives grain fumigation instructions and pest control guidance for safe handling of stored grain.
The Birdtail River School Division No 38 met at Crandall on July 29 1971 with trustees Waddell Butcher Falloon Rapiey Armitage Lewycky Fouillard Hyndman Fulton Randell present. They adopted minutes, accepted correspondence, filed orders for land title transfer for Kenton Lots 11 12 Block 4, approved numerous tender lists, re tendered bus routes, appointed R E Williams acting secretary treasurer, approved extra transport pay for Peter Pomehichuk Route 23, and adjourned to August 12 1971 at 8 p.m. adjournment 10 30 p.m.
Park Residence notes include birthdays and visits. Mrs E Baldwin hosted a birthday party for Mrs Mabel Pangman at the Pangman home. Relatives from Nottingham England arrived to visit Mrs Baldwin and Mrs A R Youngs in Winninig. Many neighbors and relatives from Winnipeg Shoal Lake Crandall Elm and Minnedosa were seen visiting, while Mrs Barnes thanks Park Residence for sympathy cards after the passing of her sister Mrs Teal.
