Downie’s Worlds Best Dog and Pony Shows bring horses and dogs famed for intelligence and kindness, presented as education rather than fear. A noon street parade precedes a 12:30 afternoon performance, praised as the best in the country.
Rev Fyles organized the Anglican Sunday school at Holy Trinity Church with a small turnout. Teachers and parents discussed methods to improve conditions and plans to attract more children. Park urges church parents to send their kids each Sunday at 3 pm. evening preaching followed at 7 30.
A letter from Osnabrook North Dakota reports crops are burnt and failing due to no rain. The writer says yields will be the lowest in years and conditions are not promising.
Even late in the season the baseball club reorganized and met the Blaris nine in a friendly on the local diamond. The game was fast and ended 8 to 6 with Blaris in front. A night game between married and single men is being arranged for next week.
The two year old Norman France of Elkhorn was found dead in a slough about one and three quarters miles from where last seen on May 8. Coroner Clingan of Virden took custody. funeral held at St Mark's Church. Parents relieved though the case ends in tragedy.
Miniota's annual exhibition drew a large crowd and a record turnout with lively stock rings, farm products, and home handiwork on display. The fair ran smoothly under strong management, with tight contests across classes and anticipation of the event becoming the district’s best. A hardware display by Manitoba Hardware Co. impressed spectators, and prize winners will be listed in the next issue.
Crops ripen rapidly under sunny weather with wheat to be cut this week and general harvest by next week. Oats are slightly behind and need more rain, but overall conditions are very good and a fair yield is expected.
A large gathering attended the Rivers Fair on Tuesday with extra visitors from Miniota Arrow River and Pope. Baseball and football drew crowds as Waldron, Wheatland, and Rivers clubs competed, the Kar Doktors disappointing some locals, and visitors faced inflated charges and poor refunds.
A daughter was born on August 3 to Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Andrew.

Lieut Evans was at the range today and a reader asks about what to do if a car with a busted tyre stops near Hamitoa at 2 am. The response suggests sleeping if the tank and passengers are full, implying fatigue as the remedy for weary occupants.
Junior Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian church hosted a Thursday evening concert drawing a large audience. Rev Beattie chaired the program with performances by Missey Honey, Mr Pratt, Mr MacPherson, a group known as sweetness, Miss E Gerrand, Miss Ruth Hodnett, a bayonet drill by Dragoons, Willikins and Dinah, Charley Evans, and the finale The Revel of the Naiads.
