Agriculture Canada outlines the wide range of registered feeds exceeding 900 varieties and explains new amendments to the Feeds Act. The act now includes pelleting coloring agents amino acids and urea plus extended oversight to farm mixes and fish feeds. The industry totals about 1.5 billion dollars in annual sales and employs around 10,000 people.
Birdtail River School Division held a regular meeting at 9 00 p m with trustees Butcher Waddell Huberdeau Tolton Lewycky Armitage Bunn Choptuik Kreager Falloon in attendance. Discussion covered Birtle Elementary grounds lease, policy manual progress and cost, principal shortage for French, principalship move of Dennis Wrightson, regional math contest results, May arts festival venues, staff appointments and bus route tenders, with adjournment at 11 15 p m and next meeting set for May 13.
Mr Paul N DuVal of Mutual Investments Limited announces the appointment of Mr W Gordon McIntosh as General Manager of the St. Regis Hotel in Winnipeg. He brings extensive hotel operations experience from Winnipeg and Thunder Bay Ontario.
The Miniota meeting opened with 19 members and 8 leaders present. The treasurer reported a bank balance of 494.19 dollars. A bowling game is scheduled for May 16 and all are welcome to attend.
Health Centre reports 4273 meals were prepared and delivered by volunteers to an average of 22.5 people monthly, serving 41 residents in Hamiota and Oak River last year. Senior participants benefited from a balanced diet. program runs at near cost and relies on volunteers including organizers Mrs. Coombs, Mrs. McMillan, Mrs. White, and Mrs. Heapy, with many deliverers named.
Park Residence notes numerous weekend and holiday visits from family members and friends. Carberry Winnipeg Brandon Rivers Pas Roblin Killarney Crandall Dauphin Red Lake Oakner Strathclair Decker Morley House Shoal Lake and Morley House are mentioned as places visited or traveled to during Easter and Palm Sunday observances. The month’s social activity centers on family visits and a 90th birthday celebration for Mr. J D Quinton in Decker.
