A larger crowd attended the sale of Mrs F P L Spencer home belongings on Saturday with good prices. J F M Johnston reports he will auction the contents of the Commercial Hotel for Mrs Lear at Minicta on Saturday June 6 at 10 a m watch for bills.
The Canadian Army plans a public event in Virden from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. on Sunday May 3 to show how the army operates and maintains health. Soldiers, parents, and friends can view displays and receive explanations about training, weapons, and life in the service. The train will pause at two centers along a 15,000 mile route.
A miscellaneous shower at the home of Mr. W. L. Iodnett on a Wednesday afternoon honored Mrs. C. W. Trout. The hall was decorated in yellow and green with a nest motif and gifts in a matching basket. A Lady was dressed as a bride, causing amusement as Mrs. Oliver read the address.
The program lists Virden shows on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday April 20 21 22 featuring Nelson Eddy Rise Stevens and Nigel Bruce in a thrilling music cal surprise of the new season. Shows at 2 pm and 8 pm with admission 30c for adults and 20c for children all children must pay. Thursday and Friday at 8 pm Saturday two shows at 8 pm and 10 pm.
