Agriculture Canada and the Chemistry and Biology Research Institute in Ottawa launch a Soil Moisture Evaluation Project for southern Saskatchewan using a computer to generate weekly soil moisture maps during the 1976 growing season. Daily climatological data feed the model to estimate water available to plants to four feet, across light medium and heavy soils and both stubble and fallow surfaces. Weekly estimates aid yield predictions and irrigation planning, with reports released mainly to grain companies marketing boards and advisory agencies.

Home care in the hospital district reached fifty eight persons with ten nurses and twenty nine homemakers organized by Public Health Nurse Mrs Pat Cochrane. In July Shirley Little became homemaker coordinator. A total of 2485 visits were made and hours distributed across Blanshard Hamiota Miniota Woodworth Hamiota village Park Residence. Sixty equipment items loaned from Brandon pool. Volunteers delivered 4273 meals in 1975. The program supplements but does not replace traditional care, aims to keep people at home, reduce hospital stays, and address nursing home shortages. The program cost 19116 dollars last year.
