George W Strong Dead Pioneer of Iowa County
George W Strong a respected Iowa County settler died at his Dodgeville home Tuesday January 28 1902 at 8 p.m. from pneumonia after about ten days illness. Born April 28 1827 in Ohio he moved to Wisconsin in 1847 settling at Mifflin and running a blacksmith shop later owning a 160 acre farm. He served in town offices and two terms as county register of deeds and recently toured western county as jury commissioner. He married Louisa Jacka in 1850 and leaves two sons and two daughters. He joined the Masons and will be buried after Masonic funeral services Friday January 31 with morning train movements to Livingston and Mifflin.

Citizens subscribed for 100 tickets at 50 cents each and deposited funds in First National Bank to secure Reno Novelty Company. A performance featuring Reno, magician, Albert Wade, trained dogs and birds is set for next Monday evening, Feb 8. If canceled, money will be refunded. Reserved seats available at Hanscom's book store. Also includes a tribute to Edmund R. Otis in the Monons Iowa Leader.

Masonic Temple Event Draws Large Crowd and Noted Guests
The Star reports Levi W. Pollard headlined a Masonic combine party and entertainment at the Temple last Thursday evening. About 250 banquet guests and 100 dance tickets yielded a small profit over expenses. Ex-Dist. Attorney L. W. Pollard presented original poems, Miss E. M. Jones sang, Miss Temperance Knight delivered a humorous goat recitation, and local acts by Harry Hewitt, Elmer Hornung, Fay Harwick, George Terrill, and a mandolin club entertained the crowd.
