Catch cold easily They protect the lungs from sudden changes in temperature and allow sitting in draughts with little risk. People claim never to catch cold while wearing them. We offer chest protectors of chamois and medicated flannel in several styles and sizes from infants to large men.
Community items include Meserole and Horn selling Easter flowers and clothing ads, Mrs William Perry's improving health, the Badger dancing club character party on March 6, and horse sale plans in Chicago. Also reports on fire damage to Phil Parkinson’s Fayette residence, auctioneer F. E. Davisson, Philip Baxter buying Thomas Alton house, and the death of John Chappell aged about 80 with M E church services.
Matthew R. Jackson, age 44, was killed instantly at the Mineral Point acid plant while on a night shift. Caught by a chain and sprocket wheel, he suffered fatal injuries including a broken neck and skull, with colleagues unable to save him. He was a foreman’s assistant, born March 5, 1860, survived by wife Addie Stephens and five children. The Woodmen lodge and local workers attended his funeral. Mineral Point Camp No. 1201, M W A, issued resolutions expressing sympathy and noting his service and character.
Gundry and Gray Company operates a broad department offering dry goods clothing and shoes. The store markets a range of garments from everyday wear to formal attire. Local shoppers can find footwear and related accessories at the established downtown location.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from St. Pauls Catholic Church for John McDonnell son of James McDonnell of this city. He died after an appendicitis operation, aged 61 years. He had married Mary Berry of Ridgeway last September and resided in Milwaukee, employed by the Northwestern Railroad. Local notices include marriage licenses issued in the past week and a pneumonia death two miles north of the city. Mineral Point, Wis. Feb. 7 1905.
The city announces a formal opening of the new high school set for Friday evening March 3 with public invitation and a later open house on March 4 for visitors from outside the city. Teachers will accompany and explain building features during tours.
