Local items report a smallpox case on Otter Creek Highland and a broken arm for Mrs. Reese. Cuba City Schools remain closed amid scarlet fever and smallpox cases. Town Chapter No 6 to attend Grand Session in Milwaukee February 18 to 20. Donations bolster Mineral Point Free Library with a stove from Mrs James Spensley and wood from Mr 8 C Ross. Fred Dawe sells 120 acre farm north of town to A T Richards at about 70 dollars per acre. Union Mills sale draws large crowd with strong bidding. Crawford Ross Will Snow Ed Penhallegan Miles Thomas and Miss Kate Hocking returned home from the E. T. party in this city Monday night avoiding the costly junior prom. Mr and Mrs Fred Hill suffered a fire loss at Savannah Illinois last week their new furniture ruined by flames and water. Rosin has no washing properties Maple City Soap contains no rosin.
The P. M. church choir presented a two hour concert to a packed lecture room and a turnout slightly over 600. Mr. J P Hawkins led a highly praised program with Miss Jones Sprague and Hawkins on mandolin and piano, plus solos by Mrs Crum and others. The event netted 120 dollars for new music and a rehearsal organ.
Mineral Point Commandery members report a successful Monday evening event with 170 supper tickets and 70 dance tickets sold. Miss B E M Jones sang solos and Miss Temprance Knight recited. Slocum's orchestra supplied music for concert and dance. Attendees included masons from Madison Dodgeville and Darlington.
