A Kansas excerpt recalls parish voting disputes and a speech on bread and labor. The Thames Cut notes the first wedding in Thomas county at Colby on New Years day, with citizens sending a probate judge twenty miles to perform the ceremony locally.
A handsome and intelligent Maggie Murphy appeared at the High School classroom unsettled by an intense mental exaltation and talking continually. She refused to leave at closing and required two men to remove her. The country resident student, staying with Mrs Babler, is hoped to recover soon with proper treatment.

Edward Shepherd of Harrisburg declares Electric Bitters cured a eight year leg sore that doctors said required bone scraping or amputation after using three bottles and Bucklin's Arnica Salve. He praises the remedies as restoring sound health. Sold by C R Moffett at fifty cents per bottle and twenty five cents per box.
Miss Louisa Holman died at her parents home in this city on June 30 after a ten month illness from consumption. Her passing, sudden to grieving parents, ends the life of the eldest Holman daughter, a charming presence in the home and among friends.
