Glenwood and vicinity report a busy week with visitors from Oskaloosa Oshkosh Nebr and Claremont. A baby named Ruth born to Wm Skillicorn's family and a city marshal pay change noted. The Barrier at Rex Theatre and ongoing farm and orchard news across Mills County highlighted by Evernham orchard picking and local travel notes.
A reader urges mayoral or dance hall managers to appoint a floor manager to ensure proper dances at Glenwood events. The national dancing masters group condemns the shimmy, and the piece argues youth should be guided by public opinion while preserving personal freedom. Emmett Stanley of Oakland, a former Silver City boy, visited Glenwood en route home after overseas Y M C A service. He helped negotiate with the French government on Y M C A huts and will soon visit Carson and Council Bluffs before returning home.
Maurice Lewis and Everett Kirkendall depart tomorrow to Wyoming to receive land under soldiers’ programs. They will travel in the Lewis red buzz wagon, joining other veterans in acquiring Uncle Sam’s allotment.
