Glenwood Items Chronicle a Busy Week of Local Notes

Glenwood social, business, and family updates abound. Miss Havel Farlee visited Miss Mabel Ross. Clare Murphy leaves Cedar Rapids for a Cedar Rapids vacation with the R N Ross family. several local residents report sickness travel and work changes. A baby girl Elizabeth Hilton born to Percy Jackson and relatives join area families. Wolfe and Bichel families move and visit. Marshall brothers return from Minnesota fishing with notable bass. Local farming, market shipments to Omaha, and recruiting moves noted. a Democratic candidate for sheriff circulates among friends.

Churches Gospel Team to Bluffs

The Glenwood Union Gospel team, about a score and a half members, traveled last Sunday night to Council Bluffs to conduct services at the Dodge Memorial church. Pastor Rev. C. S. John Johnson Undergoes Appendicitis Operation

John Johnson suffered another attack of stomach trouble last Saturday and was taken to the Methodist hospital in Omaha for treatment. Doctors diagnosed appendicitis and he submitted to an operation today in hopes of permanent relief. Friends express hopeful support for a successful outcome.

Armory Gallery Mask Ball Draws 150 In Disguise

On Tuesday night the Armory gallery filled as 150 attendees in disguise danced on the floor below. Sherm Hill led costuming with three unused stitches. Masks dominated. judges named top costumes for both ladies and gents.

Glenwood High School Sees Enrollment Rise

Glenwood High School enrollment reaches 161 with twenty rural district beginners, about 35 percent of tuition pupils. The surge requires rearranging assembly seating and new classes in orchestra chorus violin and penmanship.
