Two Emerson weddings join Merritt Taylor and Avis Birdsall
In Emerson on Wednesday September 4 at 4 p m Rev Rh B West presided at the wedding of Merritt Taylor and Avis Birdsall at the bride's home with family and close friends present. The couple received a two course lunch as pink and white decor delighted guests. Taylor is a Navy recruit and the pair plan a brief Omaha trip before awaiting his call. Also reported is Miss Faye Chamberlin and Lieut Louis Dee Mallonee wedding in Glenwood with immediate relatives only. The bride, a Glenwood native and Simpson College graduate, will reside in Des Moines after his commission at Camp Dodge. George Green and Mrs Lila Platt wed in Omaha on September 3 and will live in Pacific Junction where the bride owns property.

Deaths: William VanKirk at County Home Farm
William VanKirk died at the County Home Farm on Friday night August 30. Born in Pennsylvania about 79 years ago, he moved to Mills County in the 1880s and lived in Glenwood before joining the County Farm in 1915. He never married and leaves a sister in Pennsylvania and relatives Ed Van Kirk and Mrs. Charles Moore of Silver City. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Van Dyke in Silver City on Sunday. Birthday celebrants: September 2 at the Roenfelds home with neighbors and relatives enjoying ice cream.
