Glenwood opens its city schools Monday with new teachers and an expanding building. Five grade teachers join, one new high school instructor arrives, and the added assembly room will be ready soon. Superintendent Moran expects higher enrollment and fuller high school courses as rural students enter.
The Glenwood postoffice lobby will stay open during Sunday hours reversing a recent order. Mail distribution to boxes will end at 12 oclock Saturday night and newspaper delivery to lock boxes on Sunday is still being sought. Public reaction cites discontent over closures and a push to keep Sunday papers accessible.
In Glenwood the Oilside Tennis tournament semi final opened with Henry Dean defeating Will Rathke in two straight sets 6 1 6 3 Pearson defeated Tierbert Olson 6 0 6 2 in the other semi final and Pearson will face Dean or the French winner tomorrow night for the singles title. A crowd watched as Dean controlled placements and Rathke moved well with strong ground play.
About twenty five neighbors and friends gathered at Leslie Stivers home in the northwest part of Glenwood Tuesday night for a watermelon party in honor of his twenty eighth birthday anniversary. They received a number of nice presents. No one is reported as getting sick though several consumed a remarkable amount of watermelon.

After completion patrons will use a model exchange service that requires dialing by number. New central operators from Red Oak assist until cut-over ends. Calls by name will cause delays as numbers are looked up. Northern town areas have started the cut-over.
