Court House Snake Is Shot During Park Scene

A court house snake kept in Surveyor Smith's Office was sighted in the park Saturday afternoon. A deputy sheriff shot the reptile after a man displayed it. A nearby woman named Mrs A Hackworth fainted but recovered, visiting Glenwood with relatives to view a balloon ascent.

Old well cave-in near Wickham property in Glenwood

J E Wickham recalls a close call as an old well near the Wickham and Judge Lewis properties suddenly widened into a deep cavity after Friday morning sinks. The 80 foot deep well appears mostly filled, with wash from surface seeping through rat holes to the abandoned shaft. Nearby notices list items for sale, rental, and local services.

Baseball Matters Propels Glenwood Sox in Local Tilt

The Tabor second team visits Glenwood on Wednesday for a return match with the White Sox after a close ten inning 8 to 4 loss by Tabor last week. Glenwood’s first team beat Amity college 8 to 4 with Kline Hamilton and Wart Allbee on the mound. Malvern high school also posted two wins over Omaha and Amity. Pacific Junction hosts Boston Bloomer girls Thursday, while Bellevue college defends at Tabor next Saturday.

Peach crop outlook brightens in Mills county

Mills county peach growers report a varied but hopeful harvest. J M Miller near Center township predicts about 25 percent of last year’s yield, J C Davidson south of Glenwood also estimates 25 percent, while A H Burger southeast of Glenwood forecasts 50 percent from 1200 to 1500 bearing seedling trees.
