Auto Wreck Injures Lyons Entered Driver Near Culvert
At about two this morning Herschel Powles, son of Mr and Mrs W L Powles of Lyons township, fell ill. Their hired man Matt Wertz drove the Powles Ford toward a doctor after failed attempts to phone Glenwood. Near the Al Miller home the car struck a cement culvert, overturned, bruising Wertz and injuring Herschel. Wertz fainted from loss of blood and was taken to the Powles home. Damages to the car run close to $100.

Death of Shenandoah Veterinarian Dr James Vincent
Dr James Vincent a Shenandoah veterinarian died suddenly at his home on April 19 from apoplexy after planning to move to Oregon with his wife. Born August 15 1855 in Ohio, he lived in Tabor Iowa before settling in Shenandoah and building a large practice. Survived by wife Sadie Ives and five children, his funeral was held Friday at Tabor cemetery with local and family attendees.

Los Angeles reports the death of G R Thompson aged 76 on April 28 at his LA home. A former Glenwood resident, he once owned a western farm and helped lay out part of the city now called Thompson's Addition. Survived by Mrs Thompson Sage Record and Mrs P M Bkelvar of Glenwood.
