The District Court adjourned until May 26 as Glenwood prepares for May basket festivities. Local notices report births, moves, and visits, including Mr and Mrs Thom welcoming a boy, and several Glenwood residents traveling to Council Bluffs for business. Community happenings cover housing moves, lectures, and school activities.
A local players team will meet the Nebraska Indians at Glenwood Park next Monday afternoon. The game starts at 3 30 P M and should be a fast exhibition of the national pastime. It opens Glenwood season with a likely large turnout to greet the red men.
The senior class presented Glenwood High School with a Victrola and a collection of classical records funded by proceeds from their class play. The annual inter class field meet is set for Friday after school to select representatives for the inter county high school meet in Tabor on May 17. Entries close May 7. Several grades held Arbor Day programs.
The Malvern postmaster term of Postmaster Baird ends next year and candidates are already surfacing. Names mentioned include A. J. Boston J. C. McGuire Henry Boyer and J. R. Graham as possible successors.
Local classified ads for Glenwood Iowa cover poultry eggs and prices hardware and furniture for sale including partridge and Wyandotte eggs several farm items like cows heifers corn planter and hay seed buyers seeking poultry cream and buyers for photos dry cleaning and tailoring services plus a pocket atlas guide ad and a used buggy and horse equipment listing. Exhibits include contact names and phone numbers.
The Glenwood churches announce 10:30 a.m. worship with 11:45 a.m. Sunday school and a Holy Communion on the first Sunday monthly. The sermon uses Mark 16 19 and creeds affirm Christ’s heavenly throne. All welcome to attend. Rev Brainerd, Rector. Christian services also note Bible school 10 a.m. Communion and sermon 11 a.m. World’s Greatest Teacher. Evening service 8 p.m. with “Natural and Supernatural.” All members urged to attend.
The Glenwood Commercial Club urges discussion on oiling and paving streets to reduce dust and dirt. The cost is minor, and many towns have already treated main streets and boulevards. The city council should consider the practical benefits and support the proposal.
